‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ Gets Free From Court Eraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai |
Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi starrer, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ will not be restricted for its release on July 30. The movie is about initial rise and the eventual decline of the two dons of underworld. The controversy arose because of a petition filed by the adopted son of Haji Mastan praying for a ‘permanent order of injunction’.
The movie is framed in the background of 70’s and it takes inspiration from the gangsters of that era. Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi play the role of the two gangsters in the movie. The family of Haji Mastan thinks that the movie has shown Mastan as an anti-social element like Dawood.
The civil court has however unchained its release, but has passed a disclaimer clarifying that if the film has no resemblance to the life of Mastan, it should have been given in the beginning of the movie.
The relatives of Mastan have blamed the filmmakers that the film will spoil his reputation and it will show Mastan as a corrupt and a wanted criminal by the authorities.
Meanwhile Ekta Kapoor’s lawyer Dinesh Gandhi says that the filmmakers haven’t given any remarks saying that the film is based on the anti-social character of Mastan. He also stated that the film is purely a work of fiction and holds no resemblance to the real life of any individual.
Gandhi further adds, “If Haji Mastan was not an underworld person as you say, then why are you connecting him to a film based on the underworld?''. He also told the relatives of Mastan to approach the Censor Board for further objections.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Mastan are also planning to approach the higher court for restricting its release and if required they will also stage a dharna.
