Music maestro of India, A. R. Rahman, who had won the Oscar previously for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, was not so lucky this time as he failed to win the prestigious prize at 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Rahman was nominated in two categories: Best original score for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours and for the original song ‘If I Rise’ from the same flick. However, the award went to UK’s Atticus Ross and Trent Rezmor of America.
The duo gave the music for the blockbuster flick 'The Social Network'. It is a semi-biographical drama film and deals with rather curious social networking website Facebook and its owner Mark Zuckerberg. The film is directed by David Fincher.
Rahman was also nominated in the best song category for his song ‘If I Rise’ from the movie 127 Hours with Rolo Armstrong and famous singer-songwriter Dido but he lost to Randy Newman’s ‘We Belong Together’ from “Toy Story 3.
In the beginning of this year, this Chennai-born musician had lost the Golden Globe award along with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for best original music in famous ‘127 Hours’.
