Wanted is a movie which marks the entry of Prabhu Deva, the much-acclaimed choreographer from the South, into Bollywood. This movie is a remake of the Telugu movie, ‘Pokkiri’, which was directed by Prabhu Deva in Tamil also, with Vijay in the lead. The movie had been a blockbuster hit both in Telugu as well as in Tamil.
The entire movie revolves Radhe, essayed by Salman Khan, who is an arrogant, but trusty sharp shooter. These qualities make him to become the much-trusted aide of Gani Bhai, the dreaded gangster, essayed by National award winner, Prakash Raj.
Radhe works with Gani Bhai on his own terms and conditions, but the astute thug utilizes him for getting rid of all his enemies in Mumbai. This leaves radhe with nothing else but enemies.
But when Janhvi (Ayesha Takia) expresses his soft corner for him, instead of fearing or hating him for his crimes, he is dumb-struck.
Then enters Inspector Talpade., essayed by Mahesh Manjrekar, enters the scene. He eyes Jhanvi, despite knowing that fact that the beautiful lady is the asset of Radhe.
Meanwhile, the bloody gang war kicks off with all the gangs aiming for the maximum control, over Mumbai. Commissioner Ashraf Khan, portrayed by Govind Namdeo, in an attempt to free Mumbai, starts his war against the crimes by arresting 200 criminals on the first day.
The movie takes a different turn, when Radhe tops the list of the most ‘Wanted’ person in Mumbai. Police asks Radhe to cooperate with them to get rid of the crime and bloodshed, but Gani Bhai wants to eliminate him as he is the storehouse of all his personal information.
What happens to Radhe and Mumbai forms the rest of the movie.
Now, let us see if the persons have been able to do justice to their characters.
The movie is completely a typical Salman movie, with the character taking the reflections of his real life nature. He has been depicted as a ‘ferocious lion’, which exactly goes with the character. He has done complete justice to the action sequences of the movie. But the final scenes of the movie share a close resemblance with the fight sequences of ‘Ghajini’.
Ayesha Takia Azmi, who portrays Jahnvi, has completely justified the innocent and naive character. She looks completely mesmerizing when she romances Salman.
No other person would have a better choice than Mahesh Manjrekar for the licentious Inspector Talpade.
Prakash Raj, who is very famous for his negative roles in South India, has definitely excelled the expectations of his character. Even Govind Namdeo has done justice as the Commissioner. But Vinod Khanna fails to create any impact, whereas others have done decent job.
Prabhu Deva, who has turned his focus to direction from choreography, has proved that he can be a good director. He has made the right choice to enter Bollywood. Prabhu Deva’s purpose seems to be presenting Salman Khan in all his glory, and he has been fully successful in that.
The only drawback of this movie is that it has got a very feeble and predictable storyline.
Even though the music is rocking at the box office, the Sajid - Wajid duo has done an average job. Screenplay by Shiraz Ahmed is also a so-so one. The one liners of Salman Khan lack the punch. Action direction is simply excellent and cinematography is also wonderful.
In short, this Salman Khan movie will pass the Box-office in flying colours. This is a typical entertainer for those who want to just sit back, relax and enjoy.
