An Indian internet engineering company has developed the font of New Rupee Symbol called Rupee Foradian and has made it available for download on its website. The newly created symbol will be used in another 6 months in official government documents and currency note,
The new Rupee symbol can be downloaded for use from the Foradian website. The symbol was approved by Union Cabinet on Thursday.The design includes both the Devnagiri 'Ra' and the Roman capital 'R' .The two parallel lines signify the equal to sign.
The new symbol has been designed by IIT postgraduate D Udaya Kumar.The symbol was chosen from the five short listed ciphers. Kumar, who works in Department of Design at IIT Guwahati said that the new rupee design is inspired by Indian Tricolour.
