Dr. Manmohan Singh Warns Indians Against Fresh Terror Attacks Dr. Manmohan Singh |
Indian PM Dr. Manmohan Singh has revealed that Indian government has received information on "an ongoing ploy of terrorist groups in Pakistan" which may strike India again. He stressed that cross border terrorism is still a major threat.
"Cross border terrorism remains a major threat. After the Mumbai terror attacks in November last year we need to take utmost vigilance. We have credible information of an ongoing ploy of terrorist groups in Pakistan to carry out fresh attacks," he said while addressing the internal security meeting attended by chief ministers.
"The area of operation of these terrorists today extends far beyond the confines of Jammu and Kashmir and other parts (of India). We need to be prepared to counter more sophisticated and enhanced capabilities. We also need to guard our sea frontiers as vigilantly as our land."
He added that there was requirement for operational preparedness of Quick Response Teams at the state level, strengthening of state Special Branches and intelligence wings.
He has sought the cooperation of the chief ministers for the newly set-up National Investigation Agency which has been empowered for dealing with terror related crimes in India.
