After much turmoil over the controversy of negative e-mail of the co-producer of ‘The Hurt Locker’ and military offence over their story, prevailed a dark loom over the team’s chances of win in this year’s Oscar.

But Katherine Bigelow of ‘The Hurt Locker’ was a staunch contester against the director and her ex-husband James Cameron who made wave worldwide with his movie ‘Avatar’.

Though everyone’s eyes glued upon ‘Avatar’ to clean sweep the major Oscar awards this time, proved to be wrong on the final day when their competitor ‘The Hurt Locker’ snatched one point further with five accolades in their favor.

Bigelow’s flick ‘The Hurt Locker’ over shadowed Cameron's flick ‘Avatar’ in the categories of:
Best Director: ‘The Hurt Locker’s director Katherine Bigelow clinched the coveted Oscar award

Original Screenplay: ‘The Hurt Locker’s writer Mark Boal clinched the Oscar award

Best Motion Picture: ‘The Hurt Locker’ won the Oscar award

Best Sound Editing: 'The Hurt Locker’ again clinched the Oscar award

Best Sound Mixing: 'The Hurt Locker’ clinched the Oscar award

It was not only BAFTA award but also Ocar award has piled up in her stride this year, making Bigelow as the first woman director to win the prestigious award. Obviously Bigelow appears as a proud woman to defeat her strong contender under much pressure.
