As one tends to think what else could be innovated beyond touchscreen smartphones, Japanese researchers have come up with a mobile phone that is designed with human-shaped body and has its chassis covered with skin-like material.
The Osaka University, NTT DoCoMo, Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) and other institutions have jointly developed the mobile phone.
The developers claim the phone was made to keep people feel closer to the person with whom they are talking to.
“The mobile phone may feel like the person you are talking to…” a source quoted the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International as saying.
As of now, the palm-sized phone is designed androgynously. But the company is planning to add features like voice recognition and imaging among other features. The complete specifications of the phone are not yet disclosed. The skin-kind-of material covering the body feels like human skin unlike other usual phones.
The weird device would come for sale in another five years with more features added in it.
