German WePad Tablet To Rival Apple iPad  WePad |
German company Neofonie has launched Wepad Tablet PC to counter the Apple iPad tablet. It also claims to be a true tablet by offering Adobe’s Flash and AIR support.
The WePad has a 11.6-inch screen that is based on open Linux platform and is expected to provide enough help to the developers through various enhancements.
According to the experts, Apple could now face a difficult time in marketing its iPad in Germany.
The WePad has its own touchscreen user interface for the WePad OS. The WePad also incorporates full functionality for web browsing, email, eBooks, music, video, games and many more things.
Apart from that, the WePad has a webcam, 2 USB ports, a card reader, HDMI port and multitasking facility. The device runs on an Intel Atom N450 CPU with 1.66Ghz. The unit has a larger screen and more weight as compared to the iPad. However, WePad offers 6 hours battery life that is presumably less than the iPad.
WePad is available in two variants such as 16GB Wifi WePad that is priced at 449 Euro and the 32GB Wifi 3G WePad with Full HD support having a price of 569 Euro.
According to the information, the pre-ordering for the WePad would start from April 27th and will be shipped in July/August.
