Ben Stiller Struck By The Good Response Of Haiti Donations Ben Stiller |
Movie star Ben Stiller has been left stunned by the generosity of his Twitter.com followers after steering them to donate to the Haiti earthquake recovery effort.
The self-confessed technology-impaired star took to his @RedHourBen blog after learning of the devastation following last week's (12Jan10) 7.0-magnitude earthquake, and became one of the first celebrities to appeal for help.
Stiller, who will be part of newsman Larry King's Haiti relief benefit special on CNN on Monday evening (18Jan10), urged fans and friends to donate by texting 'Haiti' to 90999 - and he's staggered by what has been achieved.
In a Twitter post on Monday, he wrote, "Thank you to the 2 million plus who have raised $22.4 million... Lets Keep It Going!"
Joining Stiller for the Larry King TV benefit will be Mick Jagger, Seal, Ringo Starr, John Mayer, Benicio Del Toro, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Susan Sarandon and Scarlett Johansson, among others.
George Clooney has organised a telethon to air in the U.S. on Friday (22Jan10) to raise vital funds for the survivors of the earthquake.
