Apple To Launch A Smaller iPad Soon? Apple iPad |
Apple may be planning for the launch of a smaller iPad in the fourth quarter this year. It was reported in a Taiwanese website recently.
As per the website, the second generation iPad would come with 5.6-inch and 7-inch OLED panels as early as the fourth quarter of 2010. And, the possible client to land the contract for the mini iPad may be ODM giant Compal Electronics.
It is said that the mini models are aimed at the e-book reader market while the 9.7-inch model would be for the multimedia segment.
Apple is expected to use OLED screens for its new iPads. However, there may not be sufficient supply of such screen for the devices initially that can put Apple in a tight-spot.
Currently, Samsung is the largest manufacturer of the OLED screens, but it has its own demand too.
The iPad has become one of the successful products from Apple. The company has sold more than three million units till now, bringing in at least $2 billion worth of revenues to the company.
