Singer Abhijeet Sawant denied all accusations against him and his colleague and said that they were not drunk when Prajakta hit a scooter which injured two teenagers.

 

Sawant had to face the crowd’s wrath when he attempted to intervene after the famous singer Prajakta Shukre's vehicle hit the scooter. Sawant said, “On Tuesday night I attended a singers' association's meeting with my friends and colleagues. Among them was Prajakta Shukre. After the meeting we all left. Prajahta was in her Honda City. Then she banged the car into a scooter which had two people on it. She called me in a panic. And I immediately rushed to the spot to help her, as any friend would."

 

He added, "Reports being flashed on news channels that we were drunk and were racing our cars for fun are untrue. We are shocked at this kind of irresponsible reporting."

 

Shukre said, "The lane at Daulat Nagar where the incident took place is very narrow. There was no question of racing. I just lost control of the car and rammed into the scooter. It was an unfortunate accident and I am sorry for the trouble caused."

 

Sawant added regarding the media referring Prajakta as his girlfriend, "She (Prajakta) is like my sister. Hum donon mein bhai-bahen ka rishta hai. So I rushed to her rescue. When I got there I saw the situation was very bad. The mobs were getting very edgy and aggressive. When I tried to intervene they got rough with me and held my collar.”
