Western Digital has launched the My Book World Edition II network storage device with 4TB capacity and the ability to function as a storage device as well.
The redesigned My Book World Edition II is a dual-drive network storage system that includes support for RAID 1 (mirroring) for continuous backup of data.
It supports both PC and Mac computers. It comes with software that simplifies the task of setting up automatic and continuous backup of data for all PCs at the workplace or at home. It is also available in mirror mode and uses half the total capacity for file redundancy.
Other features include Dual Raid 1 (which mirrors each drive for reliability when one fails), it can also act as a conduit for data transfer across computers in the network, it allows for remote access and can be configured from anywhere, it supports Windows and Mac file-sharing protocols, its memory is expandable with the help of USB 2.0 support, it employs WD GreenPower Technology which helps the drive run cooler, quieter and consume up to 33 percent less power, it boasts easy serviceability of drive, it incorporates a capacity gauge that helps you monitor drive space, it features high-speed data transfer with Gigabit Ethernet which is useful when working on large media files or streaming over the network and is backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
