Singing Scot Susan Boyle missed out on landing America's best-selling album of 2009 by just over 100,000 copies.
The talent show sensation's I Dreamed a Dream finished the year with six weeks on top of the Billboard 200 chart, but Taylor Swift's Fearless has won out as 2009's biggest hit.
Swift's 2008 release, which spent much of 2009 in the chart's top 10, scored 60,000 sales in the final week of the year, taking her tally to 3.217 million. Boyle stayed on top with 137,000 sales, but fell short of her young rival's total by exactly 113,000 copies.
Michael Jackson's ‘Number Ones’ was 2009's third biggest-selling album, with 2.36 million, while Lady Gaga's ‘The Fame’ and Andrea Bocelli's ‘My Christmas’ both claimed over two million sales to round out the top five.
Jackson was the biggest-selling artist of 2009 - four of the King of Pop's albums were among the year's top 20 best-selling CDs – This Is It, Thriller and The Essential Michael Jackson each sold over one million copies to make the hit list.
