The Hollywood bosses have announced a sequel on the villainous character Venom from the third installment of the "Spider-Man" franchise.

Screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese who have revealed stating that they have already written the character for the film to be titled “Venom”, have confirmed the news.

In April 2007, Reese and Wernick admitted that they were interested in writing the script for the film when they met Sony bosses at the set of the production house's comedy "Zombieland".

"'Venom' is something that we're very fired up to be writing. We have turned in a draft and are waiting to hear back, so it's early in the process. But it's a thrill to be writing 'Venom' for obvious reasons," said Reese.

Based on Marvel comics' character, Venom appeared as a villain in "Spider-Man 3" and was portrayed by actor Topher Grace. There is however, still no official announcement about the actors that will star in the action film or whether Grace will reprise his role or not. "Venom" is eying for a 2010 release.

Like in the three "Spiderman" movies, the character's creator, Stan Lee, former president and chairman of Marvel, is also in talks to make a cameo appearance in the spin-off.
