Troubled singer Britney Spears, who has been earnestly trying to get her life back on track, on Sunday, September 7, 2008, swept the board at the MTV Video Music Awards show in Los Angeles. Spear's performance at previous year's event had received widespread criticism. But this time, the 26 year-old singer dominated the show by winning awards for best video, best pop video and best female video for Piece Of Me.

Britney Spears did not sing at this year's MTV VMAs held at Hollywood's Paramount Studios, but thanked God for just blessing her like this. It was British comedian Russell Brand who hosted the event and it had performances by Kanye West and Christina Aguilera. Other performers include Rihanna, Kid Rock and the Jonas Brothers.

For quite some times now, singer Britney Spears had been trying to cope with health problems as well as legal difficulties. After Spears recently lost the custody of her children, her father James took over the legal control of her affairs. Host Russell Brand was all praise for Britney Spears in his media interviews. 'She seems ever so sweet, but some people have been ever so battered by fame,' the 33-year-old said.
