Raj Thackeray, MNS leader wrote a letter saying if Bollywood movies address Mumbai as Bombay then Sharmila Tagore, chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification will be responsible.

The Hindi movie Once Upon a Time in Mumbai used Bombay to refer about Mumbai and about that he wrote, “We did not object as it was a period film and during the period shown in the movie there was no decision to rename Bombay. However, even recent movies continue to make references to Mumbai as Bombay which is not acceptable.”

He said that if any movies further use Bombay, she will be blamed for it instead of producers and directors of the flick because Tagore is the head of the board which certifies and clears the release of the movie.

He wrote, "(In 1996), the government (through an Act) changed the city's name from Bombay to Mumbai This is an emotional issue for the people of Maharashtra."
