Samsung Galaxy 3
Samsung Electronics has launched Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5, two new smartphones based on Android platforms for Indian market.
 
With these smartphones, the company now boasts of having four high-end smartphones. “With the launch of these two smartphones, Samsung’s smartphone portfolio now boasts of 4 feature-rich models at a price range of Rs.10,200 – Rs.31,500,” Ranjit Yadav, Director, Mobile & IT, Samsung Electronics.
 
With the smartphone market growing at rapid pace, the company is intending to expand its presence in the country by extending its product portfolio. “By the end of 2010, we plan to a have a portfolio of 8-9 smartphone models and expect to notch up a 20% market share in the smartphone market” Yadav added.
 
With 3.2 inches QVGA LCD display, the Galaxy 3 model comes with features including FM Radio with 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth, AllShare, Wi-Fi, 3.2 mega pixels camera, 170MB memory extendable up to 32GB using MicroSD and Accelometer and Ambient Light Sensor are some of the exclusive features of the phone.
 
Samsung Galaxy 5, on the other hand has features including 2.8 inches QVGA LCD display, memory capacity of 170MB extendable up to 16GB through MicroSD card.
 
“The smartphone era has begun and is here to stay. We, at Samsung, are committed to making smartphones available for everyone. We have been focusing on Open OS mobiles recently since many key characteristics of smartphones are becoming more and more relevant - especially mobile internet, messaging features, strong third party applications and flexibility for customization,” he noted.
 
Samsung Galaxy 3 comes with the price tag of Rs.12,300 while the Samsung Galaxy 5 model comes at Rs.10,200.
