Renault-Nissan Electric Cars To Be Tested In Paris And Milan Renault-Nissan |
Renault-Nissan will do the large-scale testing of its new electric cars in Paris and Milan next year. The tests will be done ahead of mass production, which is planned for 2012.
The tests will include a trail in Paris of a new car charging network being built in association with French electricity major EDF.
“One hundred electric cars from the Renault-Nissan alliance will be tested from September 2010 for a year by individuals, companies, and local authority employees around Paris,” Renault-Nissan and EDF said in a statement.
People who are testing the cars could recharge them at home, workplace, car parks, and along the roads, the company sources said. Renault-Nissan also declared an agreement with the Italian energy company A2A to launch tests of the electric car in Lombardy region in Milan in 2010.
Renault-Nissan and EDF teamed up last year to develop an electric mobility operator- a complete network offering charging spots and battery exchange stations for electric vehicles across France.
