According to the Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, more importance will be given to price stability as the prices of essential items as well as food grains have gone up in a rapid manner in the past few days.
"The government monitors the price situation regularly, with price stability being high on its agenda," Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply to a question in parliament.
He also added that GDP growth of India has been moderated to 6.7% in FY09 from 9% of the previous year. This change happened due to the global economic crises and subdues demand.
