Hollywood beauty Natalie Portman received high acclaim for her performance as a ballet dancer in her new film ‘Black Swan’. The beauty reveals that she went through tight training to prepare for her role in the movie.
The 29-year-old actress added that she was not allowed to drink and go out with friends she lead a typical "monastic" life of a dancer.
"The physical discipline of it really helped for the emotional side of the character because you get the sense of the monastic lifestyle of only working out, that is a ballet dancer`s life," Portman was quoted as saying.
"You don`t drink, you don`t go out with your friends, you don`t have much food and you are constantly putting your body through extreme pain, so you get that understanding of the self-flagellation of a ballet dancer," she added.
‘Black Swan’ is a psychological thriller which tells the story of Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis who are ballet dancers in a New York City production of Swan Lake.
