Madonna’s School Gets Green Signal From Malawi Villagers Madonna |
Pop diva Madonna’s dream of building school for girls will now be fulfilled as the people of Malawi village has agreed to vacant the land. For past few days the villagers were protesting against building the school on their government owned lands.
According to reports, finally around 200 villagers have accepted the compensation of $105,000 (£67,000). Apart from being given compensation the villagers have also been provided with a new land elsewhere.
Madonna is using her Raising Malawi charity to fund a facility that will provide schooling for 200 local girls who are too poor to pay their way through education.
Madonna owns an orphanage in Malawi village and has adopted two children. Now that the protest is over the work is expected to start soon on the Raising Malawi Girls Academy outside the capital, Lilongwe.
