‘Lamhaa’ Won’t Premier In Its Main Shooting Place bipasha, kunal |
Producer Bunty Walia and Rahul Dholakia are upset over the fact that ‘Lamhaa’ wont premier in Srinagar, its main shooting place due to its story line.
J&K Government has not given permission for the release of ‘Lamha’ in the state as they fear that the separatists may object to holding any events for ‘Lamhaa’ in J&K. The movie’s storyline revolves around the plight and struggle of Kashmiri’s in between separatists and paramilitary forces.
The ‘Lamhaa’ team is surprised and shocked over the government’s decision as a larger part of the film is shot in Srinagar and Kashmir and in those places only the movie won’t be premiered. Bunty Walia, the producer of the film had already made huge arrangements for the movie’s premier in Srinagar. The whole team was ready to just reach the place on July 15.
Walia confirms the news and says, “Yes, I was told by the J & K officials that they could not allow me to hold a premiere of Lamhaa in Srinagar as they expected a backlash from the separatists.”
Walia is naturally angry over the government decision and says, “The director of ‘Lamhaa’, Rahul Dholakia, stayed in Srinagar for six months to work on this film. It is sad that we are not allowed to kickstart our film in Srinagar, which is a part of India. My beard has grown white while making this film. It has been an uphill task. This is definitely not done.”
Rahul Dholakia’s another movie ‘Parzania’ is not yet released in Gujarat even after 4 years of its nationwide release. The movie is based on Hindu-Muslim riots in Gujarat, so it didn’t get released in the state. Similar things are now happening with ‘Lamhaa’, which stars Sanjay Dutt, Kunal Kapoor and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles.
