Katie Holmes Hit Back At Criticism For Letting Her Daughter Wear High Heels Katie Holmes |
Katie Holmes, who apparently spends $25,000 every month buying clothes for her daughter, has hit back at criticism for letting three-year-old Suri wear high heels. She says the child is no different from any other little girl who is fascinated by her mum's clothes.
"Like every little girl, she loves my high heels. They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them," Holmes told US TV show Access Hollywood.
Thesun.co.uk reports that the actress has come under fire from health experts who warn that such footwear could cause Suri serious physical problems as her body develops.
Parents have also poured scorn on Katie for dressing her daughter with Tom Cruise inappropriately for her young age.
New York podiatrist Oliver Zong says Suri's foot development could be affected as a result.
"A common side effect of adults wearing heels too often is the tightening or shortening of the Achilles tendon. At Suri's age, children are growing quickly, and you want everything growing at the same rate. If the tendon is not growing at the same rate as everything else, it could become a problem," he told Fox News.
Last month Suri was pictured walking in silver heels with her mum in Boston.
Suri also boasts a wardrobe of designer clothes worth over $3.32 million.
