Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz has revealed that the role of Gemma, which she is portraying in the next venture of Italian director Sergio Castellitto is one of the most challenging and important role of her career.
Penelope Cruz quoted, "As an actress I feel that playing Gemma will be one of the most important opportunities of my life.”
Cruz, 36 has once again reunited with actor-director Castellitto to star in his latest flick, “Venuto al Mondo" which means ‘Into the World’ in English.
‘Venuto al Mondo’ is a story about a mother who accompanies her teenage son to present-day Sarajevo the place where the boy's father died during the World War II.
The Oscar-winning actress had earlier worked with Castellitto in his movie, ‘Non Ti Muovere’ (Don't Move) in 2004.
‘Venuto al Mondo’ is an adaption of Mezzanine’s latest book of the same title, which has sold more than 300,000 copies in Italy since its publication in 2009.
Cruz said, "It's a book that makes you feel and even smell the war. I don't usually like war stories, because the violence never seems that real to me, but in this story it hurts you. It makes you feel all fear and desperation of actually being there.”
Meanwhile, the actress who is currently busy filming the sequel of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ said that she will take a long break to make herself ready to portray the character of ‘Gemma’.
