Samsung Galaxy Tab |
Samsung on Thursday unveiled its new PC tablet ‘Galaxy Tab’ at Berlin's IFA consumer electronics fair. The device would compete directly with the Apple’s iPad tablet.
"The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been designed to enable consumers to maximize their online experience wherever that may be," the head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business, J.K. Shin, was quoted as saying.
The ‘Galaxy Tab’ runs on Android 2.2 operating system and comes with features including a 7 inches wide touch screen, video conferencing and video chat. The device offers excellent Internet support with features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G.
The device "turns out to be a perfect speakerphone on the desk, or a mobile phone on the move via Bluetooth headset," the company said.
The tablet computer weighs about 13.4 ounces (380 grams) and can sustain battery capacity about eight hours for multimedia usage and seven hours for video play.
Vodafone Group PLC is reported to bring the Galaxy Tab in European markets and other markets across the world in October. The expected price of the device is around $200-$300. However, the price could vary depending upon different carrier of the device.
