As a woman director in the Bollywood, she has ruled her strong presence in the men dominated industry with some exemplary works that has acclaimed international recognition and remember till date.
Filmmaker Deepa Mehta who is actually a Canada-based Indian has done some remarkable jobs for movies like ‘Earth’, ‘Fire’, ‘Water’ and ‘Heaven On Earth.’ Stated to be a passionate worker and it is mainly the subjects or good stories is what that drives her most.
Admitting that she has no taste for light commercial movies, she adds "I don't make commercial films or work in Bollywood. I don't have a book with formulas. It (a film) just happens on what touches me. It's a story."
Her passion is reflected in her long hours to carry her project to perfection and evidently, she adds "It takes two years of my life to make a film. I am not an actor who makes films every four months. So it better be something that I am passionate about. Otherwise what's the point?"
Next to hit the screen is Mehta's big-screen adaptation of Salman Rushdie's bestseller ‘Midnight's Children’.
Best part of the film is that it will highlight two noted Bollywood actress like Rani Mukherji and Vidya Balan for public attention.
