Carey Mulligan’s BAFTA Dress For Charity Carey Mulligan |
Hollywood diva Carey Mulligan has donated her gorgeous black and white gown which she donned during BAFTA to Oxfam charity.
The gown was designed by French label Vionnet especially for the ‘An Education’ star. The dress was highly appreciated by the fashion experts.
Mulligan’s outfit will be displayed at a charity shop which will open for a week in the basement of London department store Selfridges, staffed by high-profile figures led by singer Annie Lennox.
The bids will start at just 50 pounds, but the fashion industry insiders believe that the dress could go for a far larger sum.
Carey Mulligan quoted, "I'm honoured to be able to donate my BAFTA dress to support Oxfam's work helping women living in extreme poverty across the world.”
James Servini, the head of personal shopping at Selfridges, said, "Carey's dress is a complete one-off that is never going to age. The dress has become so iconic in such a short time that it can only gain in value over the years.”
"If Carey continues to prove her mettle as a leading actress and a modern fashion front-runner that dress could easily smash the 10,000 barrier once it officially turns vintage in 10 years time," he added.
The event will start from May 14 and end on May 20.
The funds raised from the sale will go to Oxfam's women's projects across the world, including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Democratic Republic of Congo, West Africa and South Africa.
