Versatile actor Boman Irani who had previously portrayed different types of roles from being an adamant Dr. J.C. Asthana to sweet romantic Oscar Fernandes in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. will now be an ‘Abba’. The actor is coming back with his comedy flick, ‘Well Done Abba’ in which he is playing the role of a taxi driver.
Boman Irani quoted, "It is nice to play different kind of characters. I have not played such a simplistic character. To make a simple character exciting to watch is a great challenge. I am happy to play the role of 'Abba'. It is one of my most favourite roles."
‘Well Done Abba’ is a story of Armaan Ali who is a taxi driver in Mumbai takes one month leave to find a husband for his daughter living in a small town close to Hyderabad.
The actor explained, "As Armaan returns late to Mumbai his employer wants to sack him. But Armaan has a story to tell that is humorous and hilarious.”
"The film shows how development projects that government initiates get hijacked by corruption. The movie is not a political game it is about the basic working of how the system functions. We are not talking about how one government toppled another," he added.
Talking about his character in the film, the actor said, "The character is extremely beautiful. I feel there is so much I can relate to the character making it real. The character understands very less of government schemes and all. He is like a common person who is affected by the system.”
The film which is directed by Shyam Benegal will hit the theatres on March 26. It also stars Minnisha Lamba, Ila Arun, Sonali Kulkarni and Sammir Dattani in the important roles.
Speaking about the experience of working with Shyam Benegal, he said, “I felt privileged to work with him.When Shyam babu offered me this role that day was the happiest day of my life."
