Apple’s iPad went on for sales in Chinese markets officially on Friday. The technology-obsessed Chinese were standing in a long queue for almost sixty hours to grab this classy gizmo.
The iPad was set for launch on Friday 8 a.m. in the world’s largest Internet hub, China, which has over 420 million Internet users. But the queue started forming in front of the shops since Tuesday.
The device was sold by authorised dealers and also by Apple which has two stores in the county in Beijing and Shanghai.
Witnessing the market potential there in China, the company plans to open about 25 retail stores in coming years, the company had earlier said in a statement. China could be another vital market for Apple to sell its technology products after the US and Japanese markets as the country has growing number of Internet users with 420 million mark crossing this year.
Apple’s iPad is an enlarged and improved form of its iPhone, but with slightly smaller in size than laptop. The iPad has Wi-Fi connectivity and offers number of entertainment-related applications. The device was highly successful in the US with over 2 million iPads being sold in less than two months of its launch.
