This is not a movie like ‘Mystic River’ or ‘Primal Fear,’ but it is a psychological thriller made to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience.

Achchamundu Achchamundu Movie Review
Achchamundu Achchamundu
Achchamundu Achchamundu
Cast: Prasanna, Sneha, John Shea
Direction: Arun Vaidyanathan
The average Indian may shy away from paedophilia, but director Vaidyanathan makes a compelling case to watch this film. Subtlety is the byword here rather than gory, knife-edge moments. The approach makes a deeper impression than a dramatic one could have.

It is a tale which has been narrated in a very skilful fashion. Senthil Kumar (Prasanna) is a project manager in New Jersey and his wife Malini (Sneha) are representatives of the great Indian immigrant family, with the agenda of making enough money and relocating to India.

When Prasanna cruises on the screen, with daughter Rithika’s name on the number plate, the director establishes right away that it is a movie for the entire family, despite dealing with a tricky subject. Fear does not stalk the family living in an isolated house, but it lurks. No alarm bells ring when Robertson (Hollywood actor John Shea) offers to paint their basement for $ 1500 and drops the rate by $ 500 on seeing Rithika (Akshaya Dinesh).

While the couple take pride thinking it is a bargain, and leave a latch key with him, and even the code for the alarm, they fail to notice the ‘bad touch’ of the painter, who also calls Rithika ‘Little Angel.’ When he says "catch you later," he means it literally, being a serial offender of children.

Shea as the smiling, friendly painter, who lifts dumb bells and plunges his hands in roasted sand, to quench his burning desire is simply awesome. Prasanna proves yet again that playing the part comes naturally to him, and Sneha matches him frame for frame. The scenes where Sneha’s fears transforms to Prasanna gradually show the depth that the director and actor have.

Neat work from Chris Freilich’s camera .Well carved, this is one must-see film for the family.
