Aaron Bird’s Suspension Revoked Aaron Bird |
Cricket Australia (CA) on Friday lifted the suspension of New South Wales bowler Aaron Bird after a biomechanical analysis of his bowling action.
The pace bowler was reported for a suspect action in January and was tested on Feb 11 under the Cricket Australia Doubtful Bowling Action Procedures.
It was found that not all of his deliveries were legal, and on Feb 25 he was suspended for a minimum period of 90 days.
After his 90-day suspension period, Bird applied to have his action reassessed. This testing was conducted at the Australian Institute of Sport biomechanics facility in Canberra on June 24.
The results of this testing indicated that Bird's bowling action complied with the CA tolerance level, which is an elbow extension of 15 degrees or less for every delivery. So the CA revoked the suspension.
