Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live could not make it to the top nine in the Best Foreign Language Film category list at the Oscars.
The flick was chosen from about 27movies in India to compete at the Oscars and the movie was produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Anusha Rizvi. The story talks about the pledge of farmers and the media’s role in making their suicides an insignificant issue.
The top nine flicks were selected amongst a total of 66 films. From the nine movies, top five flicks will be selected.
The nine movies selected till now are Algeria’s ‘Hors la Loi’, Canada’s ‘Incendies’, Denmark’s ‘In a Better World’, Greece’s ‘Dogtooth’, Japan’s ‘Confessions’, Mexico’s ‘Biutiful’, South Africa’s ‘Life, above All’, Spain’s ‘Tambien la Lluvia’ and Sweden’s ‘Simple Simon’.
The 83rd Academy Awards is on February 27, 2011 and the venue for the event is Kodak Theatre at Hollywood.
