Actress Vidya Balan refused to put on weight for her upcoming flick called Dirty Picture in which she will play the role of South star Silk Smitha.

 

Vidya said, "For the first time, my director and producer told me to put on a little weight. But I don't want to. With an Indian face and an Indian body structure, I will manage it. If I increase it for this film, then I will also have to reduce it afterwards."

 

Vidya was asked to put on some extra kilos so that she suits the character of voluptuous Silk Smitha. However, the actress put down the offer saying, "Largely, it will be my interpretation of Silk Smitha and not an impersonation of her."

 

About this new character that she will play, Vidya said, "It is difficult for me even to imagine myself in that avatar. So it is a challenge and fun as an actor to portray characters which are very different from you."
