SRK supports Regional Cinema Shah Rukh Khan |
SRK bats for regional cinema and supports it, he says that such small budget movies should always be encouraged and steps should be taken to highlight its importance.
The 44 years old actor adds, "I am speaking as a film person and do not want to get into the political agenda.”
Khan was targeted by the Shiv Sena during the release of ‘My Name Is Khan’ and he faced much opposition from them, but now he is supporting everyone’s views and thoughts.
He further adds, “I watch regional movies in Malayalam and Marathi on DVD at home. Even though language is a problem, I feel the best stories on celluloid come from the regional industry. If the DVDs are brought out with sub-titles, the films would get more exposure.”
He also emphasizes on the point that it is the duty of Mumbai to support the cinema belonging to the region. He accepts the fact, he himself is bad at speaking Marathi, but still if movies will have subtitles, then it would be far easy to understand it.
He adds, “My children speak it very well and hopefully they will teach me.”
But, now the MNS and Shiv Sena are also demanding prime slots for Marathi movies at the multiplexes. The issue is slowing a bigger form as the role of controversy part Shiv Sena exists in it.
