Former Westlife singer Brian Mcfadden is facing a storm of criticism Down Under after he allegedly swore at a contestant during an episode of ‘Australia's Got Talent’.
The star heads up the judging panel of the contest, a spin-off from U.S. series America's Got Talent.
But he became embroiled in an ugly spat with a wannabe, which was cut from a show broadcast Down Under on Tuesday.
McFadden criticised 50-year-old Anne Ferguson-Howe after she performed a comedy routine for the judges - and when she protested about his remarks, the star allegedly hit back with an expletive.
Ferguson-Howe quoted, "Brian said, 'Get off, get off' in a really nasty tone. I then said to Brian, 'Listen pal, if you're going to dish it out, you've got to learn to take it back.'
Ferguson added, "Brian pulled his mic off, climbed on stage and very cleverly, without anyone hearing, said, 'Why don't you just f**k off back to England?' I'd whack him. I'm a thick-skinned woman of 50 who loves a laugh but if it had been a 20-year-old girl the size I am with low self-esteem, I think I would have gone home and shot myself. It was horrific. If I saw him (McFadden) again, I'd whack him. I'd spit on him. I'm spewing that they've edited it in their favour."
A spokesperson for TV network Channel 7 has confirmed the exchange was cut from the show. "All contestants who take part in the auditions know what to expect. Usually everyone joins in the spirit of the day and has a lot of fun. In this case the exchange was unacceptable and didn't fit with the vibe of the show, so was deleted."
