Segway Personal Mobile Vehicle Set To Intrude Indian Market Soon Segway |
Two-wheeled personal mobile vehicle Segway is set to intrude Indian markets very soon. Segway is the self-balancing, 2-wheeled electric vehicles and most probably they will set up their assembling unit in India this year itself.
Even though they have made their presence felt in America so-far, they will be looking to taste the condition in India after they build up their plant in Gurgaon. Even though its price can be high, Segway looks at the surging demand for its products in India.
In well-developed countries, it is famous as it is known for its battery-operated, zero-emission two-wheelers that can carry an individual at a maximum speed of 25 km per hour. Segway travels through almost all kinds of terrains and narrow paths.
The Segway electric vehicle does have a standing board and a handle between two wheels. The driving person will have to lean forward to accelerate and backward to decrease the speed of this vehicle.
However, at 4.5 – 5.5 lakh rupees, this personal transporter (or PT) doesn’t come that cheap.
Jason G Barton, Segway vice president of worldwide sales says, “We do not expect many individuals to buy our vehicles barring maybe the 200,000 high net worth individuals. Our focus will be on commercial usage and for policing where we see tremendous potential. From Special Economic Zones, to airports, golf courses, malls and big factories, these vehicles have high practical utility.”
And the confident Segway believes that the returns on investment can be guaranteed.
Segway has already tied up with bird group of companies for sales. Their executive director Ankur Bhatia airs the opinion that it will be sold much throughout India. He says, "It may appear to be a rich man's toy but if it was just that, Segway would not have come here. Our prime target would be commercial establishments and we will also offer it on lease.”
