‘Sambha’- We Will Miss You Mac Mohan |
On 10th May 2010 Bollywood lost one of its legendary actors. The actor who was best known for portraying the role of ‘Sambha’ in 1975 release, ‘Sholay’, Mac Mohan lost his battle to cancer at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Monday evening.
Mac Mohan died at the age of 71.
The real name of the actor was Mohan Makhijani. He came to the city of dreams, Mumbai to make his career in cricket but destiny had stored something else for him.
Mac Mohan got his first break in theatre and then landed to Bollywood. The actor joined the training in the Filmalaya School of Acting and became ideal for the role of deadliest villain.
Mac Mohan, made his debut in Hindi films with Chetan Anand's ‘Haqeeqat’ in 1964. In his career span of 46 years the actor has worked in around 200 films which includes flicks like: Don, Sholay, Karz, Satte Pe Satta, Zanjeer, Rafoo Chakkar and Shaan.
He was last seen in the movie, ‘Journey Bombay to Goa: Laughter Unlimited’.
Bollywood actress Hema Malini, who had worked with Mohan in the flick ‘Sholay’, quoted, “His demise is very sad. I worked with him in Sholay and have very fond memories. He was a very nice and a respectful person. Hamesha bechare ko aise hi role milte the.”
