Happy news is coming in: British singer Rod Stewart at the age of 65 is going to become father for the eighth time.
The addition to the Stewart family is due in early 2011. Penny Lancaster, 39 came to know about her pregnancy while holidaying in Portofino, Italy with hubby Rod.
The pair has a 4- year old son, named Alastair while the singer has six children from his previous marriages.
The excited couple quoted, “We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy's 40th birthday.”
"I think touring and running around interferes with things but we're still trying and have high hopes. Though once you get over 35 it takes longer,” Penny added.
Penny Lancaster met singer Rod Stewart in 1998 when he allowed her take photos of him whilst on tour. Later, in 2005 Stewart proposed to Lancaster at the top of the Eiffel Tower after asking her father for permission.
Lancaster and Stewart married in June 2007 at La Cervara near Portofino, Italy.
A source said: "Penny and Rod are absolutely over the moon."
