Crucially targeting the Non Resident Indian (NRI) population, the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) that operates the largest online movie rental service in partnership with Big Flix, has launched a web portal – www.bigflix.com- on which one can see films online or download it for a fee with the help of broadband service. Through this website, the Reliance ADAG is basically eyeing the massive NRI population as well as those non-Indians who have a liking for Indian entertainment content.
On this website, which was launched only recently, those interested can directly view or download after selecting from the almost 1,000 of BigFlix’s 15,000 movies, music and other Indian entertainment content. The home video segment is really robust in developed markets such as US, Canada and Britain as per the chief operating officer of BIGFlix, Kamal Gianchandani.
To substantiate his point, Gianchandani informed that home video segment accounts for nearly 50 per cent business in film entertainment and 70 per cent in international online film revenues. Gianchandani thereafter underscored that their aim is to create a vital presence in the digital entertainment segment. For downloading the Indian entertainment content from this website, a fee of $ two to $ 10 would be charged.
