Raat Gayi Baat Gayi Review – Raat Gayi Baat Gayi Movie Review Raat Gayi Baat Gayi |
Director: Saurabh Shukla
Cast: Rajat Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Vinay Pathak
Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is the story of one night where the protagonist gets himself lured by a stranger. It is a journey through a wild-wacky-wicked fun. The movie revolves around one night where the protagonist loses his consciousness over heavy drinking and indulges in wild and dangerous fun. Rahul (Rajat Kapoor) wakes up after a heavy hangover of the last night’s late night party. The protagonist strives to recollect what happened during the previous night but not with much success. He could only remember his outrageous flirting with a stranger Sophia (Neha Dhupia) and then find his way along with the lady into a lonely room. Despite trying hard to recollect, he could not find out the extent to which his relation progressed with the stranger. To add to his worries, his wife Mitali (Iravati Harshe) leaves the house and goes away. As the last resort, he along with his neighborhood friend Amit (Vinay Pathak) goes on to meet Saxena(Dilip Tahil) who had arranged the party.
The movie keeps swinging between the present and the past party night with regular flashbacks given by the party attendees. However, the movie stands out in the presentation where the narration of the night is not shown in the form of storytelling instead is narrated in the most straight forward manner. What is of interest is that one discovers almost everyone in the party indulging in adulterous relationship. The conversations and narrations seem to have the slice of life in them and thus appear more realistic and natural.
Though Saurabh Shukla and Rajat Kapoor seem to have done a fair job in writing the script, yet a crisper and clearer script would have made the movie much better. At times movie tends to have a slow pace that hampers the flow and continuity of the movie. It is hilarious and hence keeps the audience attention at least for some time. Performances are average and may not make you feel that bored. Rajat Kapoor and Neha Dhupic have done a fair job in the movie. Dilip Tahil tries his hand for a light hearted character and he manages to do justice to the role. Vinay Pathak is also good in his role. Markhand Deshpande and Ranvir Shorey seem to be lost in the crowd.
To sum up, the movie may not stand up to every one’s taste yet it can be watched at least once!
