Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will reprise her role of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings trilogy prequel, The Hobbit, film studio behind the movie announced on Tuesday.
The Hobbit which is based on the 1937 novel of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien will also see Scottish actors Ken Stott as Lord Balin and Sylvester McCoy as Radagast.
Peter Jackson, the director of the movie said in a statement, "Cate is one of my favourite actors to work with, and I couldn`t be more thrilled to have her reprise the role she so beautifully brought to life in the earlier films.”
Peter Jackson, director of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, will serve as producer, co-writer, and director of the movie. The Hobbit’ has been split in two parts; one to be released in December 2012 while the second is likely to hit the silver screen one year later.
Talking about Cate Blanchett’s successful movie career, she has won multiple acting awards, most notably two SAGs, two Golden Globe Awards, two BAFTAs, and an Academy Award, as well as the Volpi Cup at the 64th Venice International Film Festival.
