Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has dismissed the claims that she is a lesbian. The rumours of her dating a female friend was doing the rounds in H-town for quite a long time but the beauty came forward and denied the allegations saying that it is irritating.
A tearful Winfrey said it was annoying "because it means that somebody must think I am lying."
Talking about her 20-year relationship with Gayle King, Winfrey said, "She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don`t know a better person.”
"It`s making me cry because I`m thinking about how much I probably have never told her that. Tissue please," she added.
The world's only black billionaire revealed that she met King in the 1980s when she was working at the Baltimore TV station.
"I`m not a lesbian. I`m not even kind of a lesbian. And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I`m lying. That`s number one. Number two...why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life."
Winfrey and her partner Stedman Graham have been together since 1986 but the spectulations of their split rose when she and her partner were hardly seen making public appearances. .
"I made a conscious effort around 2003, 2004 to pull back on my public appearances with Stedman," she said.
