No Hidden Mormon Message In ‘Twilight’ Books, Claims Robert Pattinson Robert Pattinson |
Robert Pattinson has dismissed ongoing reports suggesting Twilight author Stephenie Meyer hides Mormon philosophy through the books in the hope of turning youngsters to the religion.
Critics and fans claim the final book in the Twilight series, ‘Breaking Dawn’, is particularly heavy with Mormon ideals-the tome preaches the idea of pro-life after heroine Bella decides to keep a baby even though the pregnancy threatens her life.
But Pattinson, who plays the baby's vampire father Edward Cullen in the movie adaptation of the book, insists people are reading way too much into Meyer's stories.
He quoted, "I think people make up all these Mormon references just so they can publish Twilight articles in respectable publications like the New York Times. Even Stephenie said it doesn’t mean any of that. It is based on a dream."
