Nintendo on Tuesday said that it would be launching its 3DS gaming console in February. The company announced the 3D-enabled gaming console would be launched in Japan in February and in the US in March.
The news disappoints many Nintendo fans, who were waiting for the device for this Christmas and holiday season.
The price of the Nintendo 3DS has been fixed at 25,000 Yen ($300) for Japanese markets while for the other markets the company is yet to announce.
The company, moreover, expects a 2 billion yen loss for the six months ending on September 30. Further, 23.5 million units are estimated to be sold as against the earlier projection of 30 million units. And only 17.5 million units of Wii gaming devices are projected to be sold from 18 million.
Nintendo 3DS is a gaming console equipped with rich 3D features that can produce 3D effects without the help of 3D glasses. Nintendo’s 3DS rivals directly with Sony’s PlayStation Portable.
