Milan Luthra Gets Blows From Haji Mastan’s Family Ajay Devgan |
Milan Luthra’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ is getting some harsh blows from Mastan’s family in regard to some opposition for the lead’s character.
Haji Mastab was one of Mumbai’s notorious gangsters in the 70’s. Such people have always been a subject matter for the movie directors.
This time, it is Milan Luthra’s initiation to show the same subject matter in his upcoming movie ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. Ajay Devagan is playing the role a smuggler (inspired from Mastan’s character).
As far as the research part is concerned for the subject matter, the director didn’t take any initiative to approach Mastan’s family. As a result, he is getting some strong opposition from his family members.
It is even heard that, family members are very infuriated about the movie and they are looking forward to take some legal actions.
They have a presumption that, Mastan might be portrayed overall as a bad man in the movie.
Haji’s nephew, Hussain Sharif explains “Haji refrained from wearing shoes and in the promos they have shown Ajay Devgan wearing stylish shoes. Also, if they are making a film on him, they should have at least asked us when they were researching about him. We would have readily shared all the details with them.”
He further adds, “They (filmmaker) are saying that Haji is a smuggler and linking him to Dawood in the film. But the fact is that it was never proved that he was a smuggler. There is no case registered against him. And as far as Dawood is concerned, he was never there. He came in much later and Haji had no connections with him.”
Meanwhile, Haji’s daughter Shamshad Supariwala has also sent legal notice to Balaji Telefilms. However, the result was nil for her.
She further adds “Milan’s lawyer has replied back saying that the character is just inspired by Haji, but, otherwise the film is completely different. Earlier, they were promoting the film using my father’s name and now that I have come into the picture, they are coming up with excuses that Ajay’s look is inspired from Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar (1975).”
She adds “I am planning to have a press conference soon.”
Hussain Sharif adds in context of the movie ‘Deewar’ that “Salim-Javed met Haji before making Deewar and they were given a nod. They were good friends and that’s why he didn’t bother. In fact, Haji had also seen the film before the release.”
