The stage is set for Michael Jackson`s memorial as the world braces itself for possible the biggest send-off of a celebrity in history.
The final act will be at the 20,000-seater Staples Center. The performers for the act will include Lionel Richie, Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Luther King III, and John Mayer.
The legal hassles continued on Monday as his mother lost possession of his estate. A New York Congressman calling Michael Jackson a pervert said he did not deserve so much attention.
Around 1.6 million people registered for free tickets. 8,750 people were selected to receive two tickets each. The few lucky ones picked the passes on Monday.
The hotels in downtown were being filled up quickly. The cops have warned people without tickets to stay away from Staples Center. The bookings on British Airways saw an increase after the arrangements of memorial were announced.
"I think this is America`s version of Princess Diana. People want to be in the vicinity. People from the UK and elsewhere want to share their emotions together," Charles said.
Around 50 theatres across the US are planning to telecast the memorial live. Elizabeth Taylor, friend of Jackson will be mourning in private. She would not be attending the memorial.
The Los Angeles Superior Court appointed Jackson’s attorney and a family friend as the administrators of the estate. Jackson’s will asks Attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain to manage his empire.
