Mariah Carey Hits Out At TV Presenter For 'Diva' Demands Mariah Carey |
Mariah Carey's representative has blasted a British TV presenter for listing the singer's ‘diva’ demands during a recent appearance on a morning show - calling the host's claims a ‘clear, gross exaggeration’.
The pop superstar taped an appearance on the U.K.'s GMTV last week (beg16Nov09), which was aired on Tuesday (24Nov09).
Presenter Kate Garraway took to her weekly column in British magazine New! to describe her encounter with the singer, accusing Carey of bringing her own toilet roll to the studio and forcing her aides to walk backwards in front of her to catch her if she tripped.
The TV host wrote, "We had Mariah Carey in the GMTV studios last week. I've heard a lot of rumours about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It's all true!
While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious. They outnumbered the entire GMTV crew.
"She had two people to lower her on to the GMTV sofa, in case her dress got crushed, one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making sure she was going to be filmed from the right angle.
"Have you ever heard anything like it? Oh, and she brought her own toilet roll as well."
But Garraway's claims have left Carey fuming, with the star's publicist telling Dailymail.co.uk the stories are a "clear, gross exaggeration".
The spokeswoman adds, "With regards to the entourage, every star of Mariah’s calibre is surrounded by a working team and Mariah doesn't actually have any more people working with her than any other major star."
