Mani Ratnam Nervous On Raavan’s Release Mani Ratnam |
The 54 year old well established legendry director Mani Ratnam is feeling nervous on the release of his much awaited film, ‘Raavan’.
A big brand in the Indian cinema, whose creations are assumed to be hit, even before release, is feeling like a new comer. Only 2 days left for Raavan’s release and the director has started to feel nervous and restless.
Basically, he is a Tamil director and Raavan is releasing in Tamil and Hindi this Friday.
He adds “I am not worried about the craze and expectations from others. I just want to get the film right and do as good as I can. I feel as pressurized as a beginner before every release.”
Ratnam’s every release is a grand success and always hits the box office with a high success rate. His creations in Hindi comprise Roja, Guru, Dil Se and Bombay.
Whenever he is in a confused state of mind, he always reverts to his writers and actors.
He adds "I trust the writer when he says something will not sound right in Hindi. I ask him how it would sound right. I trust the actor and discuss it with him. So we discover many things together.”
He also adds "In Tamil, I hold more reins and control while in Hindi, I trust the other persons more so it becomes a liberating experience.”
Ratnam feels that directing the same movie in two different languages was a huge task and he has worked hard as ever.
He adds "I am an instinctive filmmaker and the challenge is not to let go totally the instinct while directing a scene in two different languages. Once you finish a shot you can't move on to the next shot immediately. The tempo just changes.”
