Mahindra To Foray Into Small Car Segment With Its Mini-Xylo Mahindra Mini-Xylo |
Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra is set to launch its mini Xylo to grab market space in this segment. However, the company has not chalked out any plan for it, said India’s largest utility vehicle maker in a statement.
As per the reports, the company is in the process of developing and testing a smaller version of their popular MUV Xylo. However, some of the auto enthusiasts have spotted the compact Xylo in hot fields of Rajasthan.
When asked about the launch, Mohan Nair, the official spokesperson of Mahindra’s auto division, said, “We won’t be able to comment on our future roll-outs.”
The reports said the vehicle would be a shorter model of Xylo and will be powered by a 1.5 L engine. The model will accommodate up to five persons.
The car is expected to hit the market in 2011 and the price is expected to be competitive too. This M&M model will pose direct threat to the rival, Premier Rio, the only car in this segment.
