Karan Johar Believes There Is Certain Cynicism In Todays Love Stories Karan Johar |
As a noted director and a filmmaker, Karan Johar reflects his love stories with a different touch that is apart from pure love stories of Bollywood.
Even in latest release ‘My Name Is Khan’ he mould Shah Rukh's character with different insight that has certain disorder and intense emotion at the same time. But the disorder in Shah Rukh's character acts as a texture and an added layer which actually cannot be termed as the focus of the film.
Karan believes nowadays a pure love story is very difficult to make as in decades ago, he states, "I think a pure love story is difficult to make as we used to do decades ago. There is too much cynicism and too much of a grey area surrounding love. That's why a very pure love story will have certain cynicism attached to it. That's my belief. Having said that, I believe that there are some great love stories waiting to be made."
This love story ‘MNIK’ has a very illogical demand to meet the US president by Shah Rukh, Karan states, "We needed a character not to be neurotypical because when he is asked to embark on a journey to meet the US president, it's a very illogical demand to make. But it's told to him in the heat of the moment and he takes it to heart.”
Karan reasonably adds, "If he was neurotypical, like you and I, logic would have played a big part. But he followed the instruction.”
It seems Karan Johar is least deterred by ‘3 Idiot’s huge impact at the Bollywood's box office but is in the verge to rule out his own conviction in a different shade.
